Winter being right on time and already quite chilly, we have to take care of our skin more than ever. Always on the lookout for new organic beauty products, we decided to create our own ;) To do so we found an awesome DIY blog GIMME SOME OVEN and we fell in love with their DIY ROSEWATER LIP BALM. So here we are in the Fit ‘n’ Tasty super kitchen trying to make it ourselves by following their recipe!
To do it you’ll need:
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
- 2 Tbsp. sunflower seed oil (or you can substitute an additional 2 Tbsp. olive oil instead)
- 2 Tbsp. rosewater
- 1 1/2 Tbsp beeswax
- Sauce pan
- Glass measuring cup
- Spoon to stir
- Small medicine dispenser or syringe
- Metal lip balm containers
Method :
- Combine sunflower oil, olive oil and beeswax into your glass-measuring cup. Take a small saucepan (large enough to fit your measuring cup into though) and place the cup inside the saucepan, filling the saucepan with a few inches of water: a bain marie. Heat it on a medium heat.
- Allow beeswax to melt while stirring occasionally to mix the oils into the beeswax.
- Once the beeswax has melted entirely, add your 2 tbsp of rose water to the beeswax mixture and bring your heat down and stir occasionally for 20 minutes.
Important step: take a small spoonful of your lip balm mixture and let it dry completely to check the texture of your balm. If it seems too hard add a bit more olive oil. It’s important to check to make sure you get just the right consistency!
- Once you feel your balm had reached the desired consistency go ahead and begin filling your containers with a small medicine dispenser.
- Let the balm cool before covering and then enjoy!
