Welcome our newest ambassador Geneviève from the blog The Fit Mrs! In this short interview she answers all our burning questions. Boy does she have a fit lifestyle ! Read below and get her tips to a healthy life.


Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi ! My name is Genevieve, but I am also known as The Fit Mrs. I started my health blog one year ago while I will still living in New York simply to share my healthy recipes and wellness tips with all of my friends. Little did I know, I’d start teaching cooking classes and study to become a holistic health coach. Growing up in Los Angeles, California, health and fitness was always an important part of my everyday life. Everyone’s obsessed with health there, but that’s a good thing. Being able to use my passion for living a healthy lifestyle as well as my love for cooking into a career has truly been a dream for me.

What will we always find in your fridge/pantry?

My rule is that I buy fresh produce (fruits, vegetables, lettuce) 2-3 times a week. I cook a lot with produce (never with processed or packaged foods!) almost every single day but I like to ensure that all of my produce is organic and fresh. I always have almond milk, fresh cage free eggs, beets (and their greens) stalks of kale, a huge bag of spinach, fennel, pickles (great for gut health), probiotics, Brazil nuts, and berries in my fridge.

 

What will we never find in your fridge/pantry?

I never buy anything ready made or packaged, so you will never find that lurking anywhere in my fridge.

What is your workout routine like? How often do you work out and what exercises are your favorites?

One lesson that I have learned over the years is to switch up your workout routine. Never allow yourself to get bored of what you are doing. For one, different types of exercises target different parts of the body; some routines are better for strength training and others for cardio. I used to be a track runner in high school, but I now enjoy more long and leisurely runs. A few years ago, I took my first ballet barre class and have been obsessed ever since. As we don’t have as many classes available in Geneva, I do a lot of barre at home simply using a chair and weights! There should never be an excuse not to workout! I practice vinyasa yoga 4 times a week, Pilates reformer twice a week, and the other days I either do HIIT workouts or run.

Favourite healthy foods? Can you share a recipe with us?

How do I choose ? I’d have to say I can’t live without sweet potatoes, avocados, almond butter, bananas, spinach and kalé.

Fall Sweet Potato Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients :

  • 1 sweet potato, roasted and peeled
  • 1 banana
  • 1 date
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 tbsp almond or peanut butter
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup almond milk

Directions :

To prepare the sweet potato, preheat the oven to 200C. Slice the sweet potato in half, place on a baking sheet, and roast for about 35-40 minutes, until the sweet potato is very soft. Let cool.

Scoop out the flesh of the sweet potato and add that to a blender. Add in banana, date, maca powder, nut butter, cinnamon and almond milk. Blend until combined. Sip and enjoy !
