Spring is finally here, it’s the right time to do a juice cleanse!
With the new season just around the corner, we wanted to talk about the ancestor of the detox cleanse, the spring cleanse known as fasting. At the time, we didn’t really ask ourselves the question, when the seasons changed, we practiced a regular detoxification cure. In the Christian world, with the arrival of spring, people prepared to fast. This period lasts 40 days, which precedes one of their greatest feasts, Easter.
It is obvious that nowadays we don’t necessarily fast. At least it is important to clean our body from toxins, from the not always healthy food we eat, from stress and many other factors that we did not have as much in the past.
So here is what you can do to put your body in the spotlight and go into detox mode this spring:
As a reminder to Lent, remember to eat healthy. We’re not talking about doing extreme fasting, right? There’s nothing worse than destabilizing your body by depriving yourself of food and drink completely. Try to eliminate products that are harmful to your intestines, fatty, hard to digest or too sweet. Eventually you should not eat a food that you usually eat too much of (meat, sweets, sodas,…) for a given time. You will be proud of yourself and will help your body to feel better already. Some people also challenge themselves to ban alcohol, coffee, chocolate,… for 15 days for example!
You can also go for a detox with teas, infusions, … For example, make yourself hot water with lemon juice, or drink a shot of ginger, every morning for 15 days. Nothing better to wake up your body and clean it little by little every morning!
And for a natural cleanse that’s a little different, think dandelion! It helps cleanse the liver, drains the gallbladder and the kidneys. In a salad or smoothie, it’s perfect!
Here you go for a few days of spring detox! Remember, you are not doing this out of obligation, but out of a desire to respect your body, to refurbish it and to take care of it as it should be!
